Google Pixel Buds Pro review: Highest quality TWS

A number of flagship devices were unveiled by Google at its Made by Google event. We got to see some brand new Pixel gadgets as well as the Google Pixel Buds Pro wireless headphones. Google Pixel Buds Pro Review: Design

So let’s start with the physical features like build quality and looks. Buds and a few other tips are included in the package. They come in a cute little case with two prongs, one of which is already attached. With the other tips, we didn’t really need to use them because the default was fine for us. Build quality isn’t an issue as the case is fairly comparable to the regular Pixel Buds and is again made from quality plastic. They are quite small and easily fit in your pocket.

We appreciated that the case also has a physical pairing button, which fortunately can connect to two devices at once. The fact that many higher quality TWSs do not offer this feature makes them an exception.

Although the case is attractive and has a pebble design, it locks well. The form of the Buds Pro is somewhat different from the form of the regular Pixel Buds. These are larger and have an in-ear detection sensor, so when you take them out, they automatically recognize you’ve taken them off and pause the music.

The build quality is also excellent. These are basically touch capacitive buttons; in fact, you can control a whole range of functions with them, which we’ll talk about later. The Buds Pro are slightly larger, making them less comfortable to wear for longer periods of time. These are comfortable to wear for 40 to 45 minutes, after which we had to adjust them as they continued to put pressure on our ears.

You may be aware that we’re always getting extra ear tips with our headphones, but Google has now developed a feature for the Pixel headphones that lets you determine which one works best for you and offers the best noise cancellation. So if you swipe down on the notification panel, click and hold Bluetooth, and then see your Pixel Buds pro, you can check the eartip seal in the settings.

Of course, you put on your headphones and when you tap Start, the test song starts playing. After the test, it will let you know if the ear tips need to be replaced, or if they fit perfectly and your noise cancellation will work great. ANC can be activated on your phone or by tapping and holding the Buds Pro. Transparency mode uses the microphone in the headphones to pick up all the different sounds around you, so you can still hear them when you’re wearing the headphones. This mode can also be used to release any pressure that has built up in your ears, which is pretty damn cool.

In this case, when describing the Bluetooth range, we would say that it is respectable, but not exceptional. When you are in the room, everything works perfectly. When we moved to another room, everything worked again. But when we got to the balcony (2 rooms further) which is almost out of reach of the buds, everything stopped working. So the Bluetooth range is adequate, although currently among the best we’ve seen.

We watched some Netflix shows as well as Big Boss videos on Voot and YouTube, all without any lag. But there was a minor delay in the games.

The Pixel Buds Pro have been used with a number of phones, including the Pixel 7 Pro. The Pixel Buds software can be downloaded from the Google Play Store on any Android phone, but the Pixel phone already has it pre-installed. The user interface is quite simple; all you have to do is open it up and see how long the batteries of each earbud and case last.

You also get basic touch controls, which we really liked as it lets you play, pause and do other simple things. One feature we like about these headphones – and many premium TWS – is that you can also control the volume with them. That’s why we rarely had to use our smartphone while wearing these earbuds, because you can easily increase and decrease the volume with just a swipe, and it works incredibly well.

In addition, the left bud can be customized. For example, you can set active noise reduction or switch to transparency mode. You can customize it in the app to help you with your needs. When it comes to audio, the basic functionality in the app. It has a volume equalizer which slightly improved the equalization.

The Pixel Buds Pro have active noise cancellation (ANC), which is a new and significant feature compared to the regular models. ANC is good and we’ve tried it a lot; it provides fairly effective noise cancellation, so listening to music is immersive, but it doesn’t completely block out off-road traffic or other extreme outside noises.

For calls, the microphone quality is again excellent. The other side didn’t claim anything about their inability to hear us or anything like that. It’s decent in that respect and helps reduce background noise a bit.

Okay, so connecting the Pixel Buds Pro to your phone, another phone, or even a laptop at the same time is surprisingly simple. Once you open the lid you get a pop up message to pair them, but the cool thing is that if you open the lid and turn them over, then click and hold the back button for a few seconds until you see the front light flashing, you can actually pair them to another device. Simply ensure that multipoint connection is enabled in the settings and then you can connect your booths to multiple devices.

What if you drop one of your Pixel Buds Pro? So if you ever lose your device, here are two ways to find it. The first method is to go to the app settings and look for the “Find device” option if you lost them somewhere nearby and they are still connected to your phone. If you tap that, you’ll have the option to ring the left, right, or both buds. As you search for them, the volume keeps increasing.

But what if they are no longer connected to your phone? The second way is to open the Google Find My Device app, select your Buds, and then see the exact time and location of their last connection to your phone. So your phone will find your Pixel Buds Pro.

In terms of sound quality, we’d describe it as wide and immersive, which is excellent, but could have been just a tiny bit better. By default, these clearly increase the bass, even if the eq. volume off. And since most of you will undoubtedly enjoy this setup, we have to say that the bass is excellent. Moving on to the vocals, they are also very well crafted and crystal clear. Now coming to the high notes, we thought the default sound signature was a bit underwhelming for the price range.

Thanks to the EQ boost, the higher notes now sound a bit better and have a brilliance that was missing before, but it also boosts the bass, which is already on the high side. So it may be a catch 22 situation for some.

In terms of battery life, we’re pretty happy with them. The Google Pixel Buds Pro boast a 7-hour battery life when using ANC, which is an improvement over the typical 5-hour life of any premium TWS. If you disable ANC, it can go on for almost 11 hours.

Statement

As a result, for everyday use – including watching movies on smartphones – we had no problems. In addition to two USB charging ports, the case also includes a connector for wireless charging. Besides the good sound, the best feature of TWS is that you can easily adjust the volume with a swipe of your finger. We believe every premium TWS should have this feature because it really worked so well. It is also excellent in terms of customization. In our honest opinion the ANC is good but not the best.

Although they claim that the battery life is undoubtedly among the best in its category. Most of you will really appreciate good bass vibrations when listening to music. Moreover, even at this price level, connecting two devices is unusual.
